Stammering, otherwise known as stuttering, is a difference in the way some people speak. With stammering, words can sometimes feel either stuck or out of control. This might involve a sound or syllable getting repeated, stretched or blocked. It can also involve a sense of anticipation that a word may be about to become stuck. Stammering can vary hugely from day to day, or from situation to situation. No two people's stammers are alike, and stammering can impact people's lives in very different ways.
Stammering therapy is suitable for anyone who feels that their stammer, or the way that they have been managing their stammer, has begun to impact on their wellbeing.
Stammering therapy can benefit a wide range of people, from people who stammer tensely or often, to those who hardly stammer openly at all, but have become burnt out and exhausted by the effort to do so.
It doesn't matter whether you have been stammering since childhood, or have developed a stammer more recently, in adulthood. There is no right or wrong time to start therapy, and many people are pleasantly surprised by how much stammering therapy has changed since their early experiences.
